Jamie Allen, Principal
It is with great excitement and honor that I join you as the new Principal of Broad River Elementary School! I count it a privilege to return home to serve and lead. I feel very fortunate to be part of the great Starfish Family and to support the staff, students, and families of this school community.
I have been dedicated to the field of education for 19 years, starting my educational career at James J. Davis Elementary for half a year before transitioning to Broad River Elementary in December of 2005 where I spent 15 years, and then leaving in 2021 to lead WBMS as their principal before this return to BRES. As a life-long learner, I have acquired a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Master of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in Literacy from Lesley University and an Education Specialist Degree in Leadership in Educational Administration from Capella University. I have served in various positions including classroom teacher, Reading interventionist, TAP Master teacher, assistant principal, and now principal. I am thrilled to bring my skills as an educational leader back to Broad River Elementary School where I was trained, and to work with you, as a partner in education to ensure our children's success.
On a personal note, my husband Dwayne Allen and I are proud natives of Beaufort, SC, both graduates of Battery Creek High School. Following my graduation, I served in the US Army and later in the Army National Guard. Together, we returned home to raise our three children: Dwayne Jr., Jakayla, and Jaeon—all of whom, like myself, had the privilege of being students at Broad River Elementary School. We are also blessed with an amazing grandson who will soon join our school family.
I firmly believe that together, there is no challenge we cannot overcome. I am eager to blend my experience, commitment to continuous learning, and student-centered approach with the wealth of knowledge and experiences each of you brings. Together, let's ensure that BRES continues on its path of excellence for our students and community! #StarfishPride
